Clothing Care
All Sea Lustre designs are made in small batches and sewn by hand on machines, so no two pieces are perfectly identical. Slight variations in stitching, print placement or finish are part of the process and make each piece uniquely yours. To help maintain the color, shape and life of your clothing, please follow the care instructions below.
General Care
Gently hand wash in cold water with mild detergent.
Do not bleach.
Squeeze out excess water before hanging to dry. Do not wring or twist.
Steam or use a low-to-medium iron setting to release wrinkles.
Do not tumble dry.
Please note: Linen, cotton and rayon may shrink at various rates when washed in a machine, even in cold water. These fabrics will shrink significantly if placed in the dryer. Deviation from the recommended care instructions may result in shrinkage, color fading, rips or tears.
Linen Care Linen is a natural fiber loved for its texture, breathability and lived-in ease. It gets softer with wear, but it does need gentle care.
How to wash Handwash in cold water with a mild detergent. Avoid hot water, harsh soaps and machine washing when possible.
How to dry Gently squeeze out excess water, then hang or lay flat to dry. Do not wring, twist or put linen in the dryer. Heat can cause significant shrinkage.
How to steam or iron Linen naturally wrinkles. Steam to soften creases, or use a low-to-medium iron setting while the fabric is slightly damp.
Extra note Linen may shrink if machine washed, even in cold water. Dryers will shrink it significantly.
Cotton Care Cotton is soft, breathable and easy to wear, but it can still shrink or fade without proper care.
How to wash Handwash in cold water with mild detergent. Wash separately or with like colors to help protect the fabric and print.
How to dry Squeeze excess water gently, then hang or lay flat to dry. Do not wring, twist or tumble dry.
How to steam or iron Steam or iron on a low-to-medium setting to release wrinkles. Avoid high heat, especially on printed or dyed pieces.
Extra note Cotton may shrink in the wash and will shrink more noticeably in the dryer.
Rayon Care Rayon has a soft, fluid drape and beautiful movement, but it is more delicate when wet.
How to wash Handwash only in cold water with mild detergent. Do not soak for long periods.
How to dry Gently press out excess water without twisting or wringing. Hang or lay flat to dry away from direct sunlight.
How to steam or iron Steam is best for rayon. If ironing, use a low setting and iron on the reverse side.
Extra note Rayon is especially prone to shrinking, stretching or losing shape if machine washed or dried with heat.
